Do Something Day – ‘Winter Is Ruff’

Revesby Workers’ will be giving their best for Do Something Day on Wednesday 25 July with ‘Winter is Ruff’, an initiative encouraging others to give back with a gesture of kindness.

Revesby Workers’ are inviting the community todonate new items and support the RSPCA and our many furry friends from 2 to 29 July 2018 for Do Something Day.

A series of Blue Collection Bins will be positioned in the Clubs Foyer for donation of Bedding, Treats, Blankets and Toys. Each Bin is clearly marked to make your donation even easier.

Blankets – Snug as a bug in a rug, new blankets to keep our furry friends warm

Bedding – Soft pet beds will keep our animal friends cosy and comfortable

Toys – Don’t forget some time for play. FUN will keep the blues at bay.

Treats – Yum in my tum, we love our treats best. Tinned or dry, we don’t really mind.

Important Note: All blankets, bedding, treats and toys donated must be new and in original packaging. No fresh food treats, tinned, packaged or dry only. All food items to be within their used by date.

RSPCA NSWcare for more than 35,000 injured, neglected, sick, surrendered and unwanted animals each year. Shelters are a place where people can seek advice on their pet’s health and temperament. They are also a haven for animals that have been abandoned, lost, or have been victims of cruelty or neglect.

The coming months are challenging for the RSPCA. As the cold sets in, each and every day becomes more of a struggle for the animals they care for.

The support provided through the Do Something Day ‘Winter is Ruff’ initiative will go a long way in helping these animals on their road to recovery.

The Do Something Day campaign aims to drive the community to actively participate in actions of good by donating or volunteering as an individual or an organisation. Revesby Workers’ hopes everyone gets involved by going above and beyond through acts of kindness.

So make a difference this Do Something Day, it will leave you Feline Pawsitively Pawsome!

Revesby Workers’ Takes Out ACE Gong

On Tuesday 17 April 2018, the 2017 edition of the ACE Awards was held at Bankstown Sports Club. The ACE Awards celebrate excellence in Australian Club Entertainment and provide recognition to numerous performers and venues who are passionate about continuing to provide top class shows for the community to attend in their local areas and beyond. Revesby Workers’ Club was nominated in the division of Venue Award for Excellence & Commitment to Entertainment (Large Venue) along with Workers Blacktown and Twin Towns. Both of the Venues that Revesby Workers’ Club were pitted against have an extraordinary reputation for fantastic entertainment, and is testament to the hard work and dedication that clubs in general have to providing entertainment to the masses.

And………….WE WON!! Congratulations go out to the team at Revesby Workers’ Club who continually strive to put on the best shows possible both in the Whitlam Theatre, FREE Entertainment in the Infinity Bar, – plus a variety of entertainment across our venues not limited to FREE Kids Entertainment at Revesby Workers’ Sports Club on the last Sunday Of each month.

We are humbled to receive this award and will continue to strive to provide excellence & commitment to entertainment at Revesby Workers’ Club.

East Hills VIEW Club AGM

East Hills View Club held its AGM on Monday 19 February 2018 at Revesby Workers Club. The out-going committee was thanked for their tireless work in 2017 and the in-coming committee was welcomed. All members are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year. Throughout the year numerous social activities are held to raise money for the Smith Family’s Learning for Life Programme. This wonderful initiative helps disadvantaged children achieve to their potential through education.

This View Club meets at 11AM on the third Monday of each month at Revesby Workers Club for a meeting, a friendly lunch and conversation and a guest speaker. New members are always welcome to attend a meeting to experience our gatherings. We would love to hear from interested people.

Revesby Workers’ Club’s Support to the Invictus Games

Revesby Workers’ Club continued support for a wide range of community projects will grow even further in 2018 as we partner with Clubs NSW in support of the Invictus Games being held in Sydney in late October. The Invictus Games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wide understanding and respect for defence personnel who are striving to overcome physical and emotional challenges. The Invictus Games will provide a unique opportunity for the Club to recognise the service and sacrifices of Defence Force personnel and veterans and the healing power of sport.

New Year VIEW: Opportunity to support children in need with local women in the Panania/Revesby/Padstow area

East Hills VIEW Club is encouraging women in the Panania/Revesby/Padstow area to welcome in the New Year by becoming a member and in doing so, to meet new friends and have the opportunity to give back to the community.

East Hills VIEW Club is part of a network of 320 clubs throughout Australia. Joining our VIEW Club is the perfect opportunity to meet regularly with other like-minded women, establish new friendships and help children in need.

VIEW stands for the Voice, Interests and Education of Women. It is one of Australia’s leading women’s volunteer organisations and supports the education of disadvantaged children through The Smith Family.

Our role in the community is underpinned by our support of The Smith Family. Through our work with this charity we are helping make life-changing differences to local children and their families through its Learning for Life sponsorship program.

East Hills VIEW Club hosts monthly meetings for members on the third Monday of each month a Revesby Workers Club.

The Club undertakes an annual stationery drive to provide resources to a school running a programme supported by the Smith Family. We also provide a book prize to a local school for their presentation day, with the aim of encouraging children to read.

In addition their ongoing support of The Smith Family, VIEW hosts social events, such as ten pin bowling, luncheon outings, trivia mornings and visits to interesting sites in Sydney.

We are always looking for women from all backgrounds and ages to join us and we look forward to welcoming some new faces at our next monthly meeting.

Kids Learn How To Cook Breaky In Bed For Mum & Dad

Imagine waking up on a Sunday morning to the smell of freshly cooked pancakes, perhaps some bacon and eggs or maybe some fresh fruit salad. Well, for some lucky parents this could well be reality!

Our budding young Chefs have been at it again this week at our Kids Breakfast Workshops held these school holidays. The Kids learnt how to;

• Dice and toss a fresh fruit salad

• Mix and bake delicious mini muffins

• Cook up a batch of pancakes with berries and ice cream

Taking home their own Chefs hat and certificate of completion at the end of the day, we are sure that Mum and Dad are in for a treat some time soon! If only the kids paid as much attention to tidying there rooms as they did in our Breakfast Workshop! Oh, forgot to mention. – We didn’t teach them how to clean up – Sorry!!

Don’t forget to look out for more Kids cooking classes during the next School Holidays.

Members donate In record numbers to Salvo’s Christmas appeals

The Workers’ Giving Tree this year was a huge success with over 1000 gifts collected to donate to children less fortunate than ourselves.
Over at Health Mates Fitness Centre, the Christmas food drive helped deliver non-perishable items to families in need, so they were able to celebrate Christmas. A wonderful culmination of food and gifts showing the wonderful generosity of our members and the community at large. From the bottom of our hearts we thank all those that contributed to such a successful campaign.
