Dennis Hayward Director
The coming period will see a culmination of the Charity Committee fund raising for the Bankstown Hospital emergency department where the committee will join with the Revesby Workers’ Club in providing equipment to the hospital to a value of more than sixty thousand dollars.
Events such as the Christmas in July at the Villaggio Bar and Cafe, the major raffle with a short break cruise for first prize, a ladies fashion parade and trips to markets will lead up to the charity finale on 11 September. At this function, held at Revesby Workers’ Club, the emergency department will be presented with their equipment and the winner of the major raffle will be announced.
During your next visit to Revesby Workers’ Club, outside the Java café, there is a donation container to assist the charity committee in raising funds for the hospital. Please take advantage and leave your change or notes if you prefer. In the past few months members and guests have exceeded our expectations and have provided over $1300 in support.
Bankstown Canterbury Community Transport
Keep an eye out for the Bankstown Canterbury Community transport vehicles around the area. This organisation provides transport to most main hospitals, doctors and medical appointments as well as shopping and club visits for those elderly and unable to utilise other forms of transport at a low cost and from door to door. If someone elderly or restricted you know is in need of transport contact 9772 4928 for assistance.
ClubGRANTS
The community assistance provided by Revesby Workers’ Club through the ClubGrants process will see a number of our local community based organisations receiving grants for specific projects in the coming months. These projects chosen by the grants committee are generally to cater for residents in the Revesby and surrounding areas and will assist people and children in need of varying forms of help. Revesby Workers’ Club will be providing around $400,000.00 to the local area in this 2015 round of funding.
Successful applicants will be presented with their grants at a special presentation at Bankstown Sports Club on 6th August 2015.
