Education Is Our Passion At This Year’s Clubs & Community Awards 2018
Revesby Workers’ Club is again a Finalist in this year’s Club & Community Awards. This time in the segment of Education!
For over 20 years and, Revesby Workers’ has been committed to supporting education and vocational advances to enhance the lives of those living in the local community. In particular, Revesby places a strong focus on education for young people to not only assist in achieving their future aspirations but to close the skills gap in the labour market.
Revesby Workers’ supports a range of initiates as part of its Education Program, these are as follows;
1. Primary and Secondary Schools Annual Funding ($1,596,000 in funding since 1998)
Since 1998, Revesby Workers’ has provided funding to twenty-seven (27) local schools and an additional school on the Hawkesbury River close to its Mooney Mooney Club. Now in its 19th year, the $3,000 provided to each of the twenty-eight (28) primary and secondary schools totals almost $1.6 million in funding.
2. Workplace Experience for Students that are undertaking Vocational Studies (12,250 work placement hours)
Since 2007, over 350 students have participated in more than 12,250 hours in the Revesby Workers’ Club workplace experience program in the areas of Business Administration and Hospitality. The Work Experience is undertaken by students in Years 9, 10 and 11 to provide them with a general introduction to the ‘world of work’.
3. Scholarships for Tertiary Education (456 students supported)
Now in its 19th year, the Revesby Workers’ Club Scholarships have assisted over four hundred and fifty (450) students during the course of their tertiary education, averaging twenty four (24) students per year and over $208,000 in funding.
4. ClubEDU Program
Launched in May 2018, Revesby Workers’ Club, in association with ClubEDU and Macarthur Workplace Learning Provider (MWLP), ran a pilot program for Hospitality students from East Hills Girls High School. Revesby Workers’
and MWLP have had a long-standing partnership with the existing work placement program, and this provided the perfect opportunity to launch this program.
