Local Schools Receive A Financial Boost
It was great to see a fantastic turnout of local school representatives at our annual “Schools Cheque Presentation” for 2017. Club President, Daryl Melham (AM) hosted the ceremony in which 28 local schools each received a cheque from Revesby Workers’ Club to the value of $3000. This year’s total donated to the support of education in the local community was $84,000. This brings the grand total of funding since this projects inception in 1995 to $1,326,000 (One Million, three hundred and twenty six thousand dollars!)
The Cheque presentation also gives the opportunity for the representative to share some morning tea and have a catch up with their peers. We heard from school representatives as to how they would spend the money and how difficult it was to raise such funds through regular fundraisers within the school community. These much needed funds help ease the pressure of already cash strapped schools and give injections into projects that the institutions hope to deliver into the future.
We look forward to next year’s presentation as we continue our commitment of helping to fund just a small part of education in our local community and beyond.
